Located at 164 Deepdale Road, the Preston office is located in Deepdale’s old railway station ticket office. The station opened in 1856 but closed to passengers in 1930. Freight trains ran along the track until the 1900s, but now the railway is disused.
As well as being a railway ticket office, Barber & Co’s Preston HQ was also used as the changing rooms for Preston North End FC, who currently play in the Football League Championship and were one of the founding members of the original Football League. They were the first ever league champions and have won the FA cup.
Preston is the administrative centre of Lancashire and was granted city status in 2002. Originally a market town, Preston grew rapidly during the industrial revolution and became a centre for textile mills and engineering.
